Once you are getting respectable speeds when plugged directly into your modem/router the rest should be easy. Be sure to take pics as evidence and you'll have all the proof you need to get them to send you a new Arris. If your modem gives you great speeds then their modem is faulty. You'll just have to call them to get the MAC/serial registered. If it were me I would get a cheap DOCSIS 3 modem (modem only - maybe return it later) and perform some testing.

How would the arris device know if you had a PC that you did something silly and used it as a hotspot or you connected another router that is providing the wifi.įirst step is to verify the cables to the second router are good. If you get good speed using ethernet cable then the wifi problem you see when you are using your netgear can not be blamed on the Arris device. I have already checked my signal levels, checked all coax lines for noise, replaced all connectors and I know the RF side is good.

So I opted in for the gig service (on DOCSIS 3.0?) So far, everyone I have spoken with is a contractor and all they know how to do is run cables thru attics and plug stuff in. I just moved out of our footprint and the only cable company available is Suddenlink.

I am going to do some research and try to find out the capacity of my cable line and go from there.So let me start off by saying I am a cable guy for Spectrum. I just think the strategy is to give you the run around until you give up. So he called me back and he said that locally they didn't know of any problems but he was going to get with the main office and see if anything was going on. He then said that maybe they were working on the mainline down by Safeway and he was going to call me and let me know. At the beginning of the week it was running. So I told him if that was true then it would be consistently be running those numbers and it hasn't been consistent. He then blamed the slow speed on my cable wiring. The tech then said that the cable line that was hooked to the cable modem wasn't the main line so he found the mainline and ran it directly to the cable modem when then tested it again and it ran similar numbers. He then said that it was probably the wireless router so I ran it directly to the cable modem and it tested the same. So I told him lets see what it reads on my computer via and it was reading between 12 Mbps to 13 Mbps. When the tech came he tested the system and told me that his diagnostic tool would only read up to 25 Mbps and that it was reading 25 Mbps.

The tech was nice but it really seemed like Suddenlink has given them a line to tell the customer.
